Eversley Cricket Club 2019

05 Jan 2019

Hello Members, Happy New Year!

Shockingly quickly it seems we are in 2019 already and Christmas is being packed away. However, I hope Santa brought you all some new gear as we are now approaching the exciting indoor training season. Your team manager's and captains will be in touch for each age group and adults section but needless to say please do take advantage and support the training that the club is putting on. Our indoor training centre is a precious facility that we use at a much discounted rate so lets do all we can to fill it every week.

Not only is ECC getting active in the indoor centre but there is also a lot happening behind the scenes. At the beginning of December we had the Annual General Meeting (AGM) where the volunteers running our club laid their souls bare to the mercy of the members who attended. The minutes of the meeting should be available soon and I would encourage all to read them but there was a few key points that I felt needed to be shared as they affect everyone.

Firstly, your new club committee for 2019 is as follows:

Chairman - Jon Last

Vice Chairman - Gary Ford

Secretary - Lawrence Cummings

Treasurer - Open (Mike Johns in interim)

Head of grounds - Chris Last

Membership Secretary - Mark Kirby

Sponsorship and Publicity Secretary - Joe Howorth

Clubmark Secretary and Club Welfare Officer - John Ellis

Colts Coordinator - Dave Howorth

Chairman of Cricket - Grant Whelan

1st Team Captain - (Not yet selected)

Fixture Secretary - Kevin Manning

Showpiece Fixture Secretary - Lawrence Cummings

ESA representative 1 - Mick Slater (Chair)

ESA representative 2 - Alan Budge (Secretary)

ESA representative 3 - Gary Ford

ESA representative 4 - Open

The role of Social Secretary is being run by a committee headed by Chris Last, Emma Sharp and Joe Howorth.

As the new Chairman I would firstly like to thank those who elected my committee and I, we will do our best to deliver the experience you expect as members of ECC, but in order to do so we will need your help.

As most of you will already be aware this club runs on volunteers. If you add them all up there is literally thousands of hours of work needed to keep us where we want to be so as you can hopefully appreciate many hands make light work!

There are some ambitious plans for the next few years but in order to achieve those we need to 'club' together and put in the time. For the continuous running of the club we know and love the following teams could use some new recruits, please contact the people listed to get involved.

Colts BBQ team - Sam Kirby

Saturday tea team - Emma Sharp

Grounds team - Chris Last

All of these are social and fun teams to be part of that need no experience to join so please consider them if you have a few hours spare a week.

For the implementation of the fundraising and organising of the PCA day we need some keen recruits to pursue sponsorship opportunities and sell seats in the marquee. Any prospective sales experts (little experience needed) should contact Lawrence Cummings or I.

To have your say and your input valued on how the club and ESA is run why not volunteer a few hours a month by joining the ESA committee? Enthusiasm is the only pre-requisite so please consider getting involved by contacting Gary Ford for or I.

And Finally, ECC is contemplating some potential renovations to the facilities on Cross Green. Should you have any experience in building or project management (even if that is simply an extension on your house!) then I would love to hear from you.

Quite a long email I know so if you have made it this far, thank you!! 2019 promises to be an excellent year for ECC and everyone involved is excited for what we can achieve. I look forward to seeing and speaking to as many members as I can over this year so feel free to come and say hello when you see me.

Jon Last

ECC Chairman
