Junior Members Update - March 2020

08 Mar 2020

Dear Junior Members,

We are now into March & less than 2 months away from the summer season so a quick update feels in order.

Key dates :

The last Indoor training session is Friday 3rd April.

The first outdoor training session is Friday 24th April.

PCA Day (see below) 29th May.

Membership :

If you haven’t as yet renewed your membership for 2020 it is important that you do this urgently. We are becoming very full at some age groups.

Please note that for those that are likely to be playing adult cricket only, Junior membership is based on age (up to U17) not who you play for so please complete your membership forms/fees soonest.

Matches :

We have entered the following teams into the North Hampshire League : U9 - 3 teams, U11 – 3 teams, U13 – 3 teams, U15 – 1 team, U17 – 1 team, U11/U9 Girls – 1 team, U13 Girls – 1 team. There are no competitive games at U7 level but we will be playing some friendlies

Fixtures are currently being set but this will mean in excess of 150 games of cricket !

More to come on this nearer the time but updating your child’s availability via the “Hits Cricket” website is really important.

Kit :

Please order your kit now to ensure that it is available in time for the season – all cricket kit suppliers will be inundated with orders pre season so please order soonest.

Kit can be ordered from the following (which can be found on our website) https://www.kitlocker.com/ccshop/club/eversley-cc

Please note that for matches either Eversley or plain kit should be warn (not school or County please).

We are conscious that kit is expensive – we will be running a “kit amnesty” at the start of the season whereby outgrown/not used kit can be donated/brought in & purchased for a nominal fee. Feel free to contact your Age Group Manager if any advice is required regarding kit.

Volunteers & vacancies :

The club is run completely by volunteers and we can never have enough whether that is coaching, helping out on match day or training or more behind the scenes.

Within the Junior section we currently have the following specific “vacancies” that we need to fill :

  • BBQ manager for  Friday nights (this role manages the BBQ – ordering food, managing the takings, liaising with the age groups to ensure enough parents to run it, setting up/down)

  • U11 Girls Manager & Coach – without these we won’t be able to run an U11 Girls team

  • U11 C team manager (no cricket coaching knowledge needed just a willingness to organise a team)

More generally as we approach the season your Managers/Coaches will need help on a Friday night training & particularly on match day be it scoring, umpiring, providing “teas”, setting up/down so please get involved & contact your manager/coach.

Assuming that we find a BBQ Manger, then every parent is expected to help with at least one BBQ evening over the course of the season. Each Friday is “allocated” to an age group & you will be asked to step up & help.

PCA Day (Professional Cricketers Association)

If you haven’t already heard ECC will be playing an ex England cricketers eleven on 29th May.

As before, expect to see very well known ex England cricketers on Cross Green – there will be a “reveal” of the names over the coming weeks, but I can assure you that there are some very household names that will be playing.

This is the biggest fund raising event for Eversley – please support it.

I think that’s about it…..please feel free to contact your Age Group Managers/Coaches or myself for any further information.
