Eversley Cricket Club News story

The sun is out and it’s nearly here!

23 Mar 2022

Hi all Junior members,

With the outdoor season less than a month away a quick note summarising what is happening.

Indoor/Outdoor training dates :

The last indoor training sessions are on Sunday 10th April.

The first outdoor training sessions are :

U15s Wednesday 20th April (and then every Wednesday until end of July)

All other age groups Friday 22nd April (and then every Friday until end of July)

Matches :

The fixtures are just being finalised, we will have c. 150 junior games across U9 (3 teams), U11 (3 teams), U13 (3 teams), U15 (2 teams), U16 Girls (1 team) and U13 Girls (1 team).

Your Age Group Manger will advise of these in the coming weeks.

Pre Season grounds preparation :

There is a lot do to get our grounds ready for the outdoor season. We have two grounds preparation days where we ask our members to come down to the club to get things tidied up and ready – this includes everything from getting the BBQ clean/fired up to painting the clubhouse to making sure the nets are ready.

The two dates are Saturday 26th March and Saturday 2nd April (10.00 am) – it’s your club, please come along and help if you can.

Getting the Fox Lane square ready takes a huge number of hours of rolling (we have a petrol sit on Roller) during April. It’s very simple (& quite therapeutic!) – if you can give a few hours to this, great – please let me know.

Friday night Clubnight :

Whilst we have done a great job keeping the cricket going through Covid, Friday clubnights without the BBQ and limited Bar availability is definitely something we want to get back this season.

As with we did pre Covid, all parents will be expected to “man” the BBQ on at least one Friday evening, we will have a weekly rota by age group so please be prepared to get involved.

The Bar will be run by volunteers (although bar staff will be paid) – obviously this needs to be people aged 18+. Again we will be running a rota - If you (or family members) would like to get involved again please let me know. Training will be provided.

If you have any ideas on how to develop our Friday clubnight we are very interested to hear from you.

Kit :

For those that haven’t as yet ordered the new coloured match day kit – we will be advising the website link in the next few days (Serious Cricket).

Eversley caps can be purchased from the club (we have a large stock) and will be on sale on a Friday night including 22nd April.

We are planning to run a kit “amnesty” where any surplus kit can be brought in on a Friday night and  sold for a nominal fee saving the kit from being thrown away, making the acquisition of new kit more affordable and adding a small contribution to the club.

The club, your club, is run completely by volunteers, please get involved in any way you can and lets make 2022 a great season.
