Major Fundraising initiative - New Outdoor Nets

06 Nov 2022

Dear Eversley Members,

We are incredibly lucky to have two grounds plus the “Pony field” enabling all of our Junior & 4 Adult sides to be played at our home (with the 5th XI making use of Eagle House School), with our Indoor Training Centre for all of our winter training to take place at our home and in the summer for all of our training to take place at our home.

But we have reached a stage where due to increased demand for hard ball cricket and to enable future growth including in Girls and Women’s hard ball cricket we need to increase our capacity. For hard ball, we now have 5 adult Men’s teams, more than 100 Juniors playing hard ball and a plan to extend Women’s and Girls hard ball cricket going forward.

With this we need to protect our squares and to do this is we need to invest in new outdoor nets and reducing the wear & tear from training so that they are in good condition for matches. We have therefore decided to invest in a quality four net system that will be located in the Fox Lane part of our grounds (there is no space on Cross Green). The nets will be enclosed by a perimeter fence, will be ECB approved and using the latest technology and design. This will cost in the region of £80k.

Our normal recurring revenues mainly from Membership and Match fees just about cover our normal recurring costs and therefore we need to raise this £80k separately. We have therefore created a fund raising team from all sections of the club who are working on various initiatives including club events, crowdfunding, applying for Grants and approaching local businesses for sponsorship.

We are launching the fund raising now, so please get involved whether that is by attending the club fund raising events, contributing directly via Crowdfunding donations or by spreading the word and assisting with the fund raising activities.

We are having a pre Xmas launch event at the clubhouse on Friday 9th December (early evening), where we will be explaining our plans in more detail and holding an events evening with the Bar open, our official kit supplier Masuri will be at the club taking kit orders for Xmas delivery, Eversley Caps & Junior match day kit will be available to buy or order, we will be having a sale of a wide range of “preloved” cricket kit and other attractions.

The new nets represents a significant investment, will position the club as having one of the best all round cricket facilities in the south of England & will be critical to maintain the ongoing success and growth of the club.

We need to have the full support of every member to make this happen, so please get involved from the get go and put evening of 9th December in your diary.
